Solve the following simultaneous linear equations:

5x - 2y = 4

x + 8y = 26​

x+8y=26.......... (2)

Multiplying equation (1) by 4 we get,

20x-8y=16.........(3)

Adding equations (3) and (2) we get,

x=2 and y=3

5x=4+2y x=4+2y / 5 .......3

sub 3 in 2 nd equation

4+2y/5+8y =26

cross multiply

4+2y +40y / 5=26

4+2y+40y = 130

42y = 130-4

y= 126 /42

y=3

sub y value in eq 3

x= 4+2(3) /5= 2
