Answer:

5x-3y=8 .................... (i)

3x+y=2  .................... (ii)

From second equation :-

x = 2-y / 3.

Substitute the x value in the first equation :-

5(2-y/3)-3y=8

10 - 5y / 3 - 3y = 8

10 - 5y/3 = 8 + 3y

Now cross multiply

10 - 5y = 3(8+3y)

10 - 5y = 24 + 9y

-14y = 34

y = -34 / 14.
