GIVEN:

Tan θ = 2

SOLUTION:

We know that tan θ = 2. By this we should understand that tan θ = 2/1

(∵ Tan θ is also equal to Opposite side/ Adjacent side)

Tan θ = Opposite side/ Adjacent side = 2/1

Now, we have to find the third side of right triangle, say ABC,

where AB² + BC² = AC² [Pythagoras theorem]

==> (2)² + (1)² = AC²

==> AC² = 5

==> AC = √5

Hypotenuse of right triangle ABC is √5. So, we can now find the required trigonometric ratios.

Tan θ = 2 (Given)

Cot θ = 1/2 [Reciprocal of tan θ]

Sin θ = Opposite side/ Adjacent side

= 2/√5

Cosec θ = √5/2 [Reciprocal of Sin θ]

Cos θ = Adjacent side/ Hypotenuse

= 1/√5

Sec θ = √5 [Reciprocal of Cos θ]
