Answer:

0.5x + 0.7y = 0.74...(i)

Multiplying 10 to both the sides of (i), we get

5x + 7y = 7.4...(ii)

0.3x + 0.5y = 0.5...(iii)

Multiplying 10 to both the sides of (iii), we get

3x + 5y = 5...(iv)

or, y = 1 - 0.6x ( from iii )

By putting the value of y in (ii), we get

5x + 7(1 - 0.6x) = 7.4

or, 5x + 7 - 4.2x = 7.4

or, 0.8x + 7 = 7.4

or, x = 0.5

By putting the value of x in (iv), we get

3(0.5) + 5y = 5

or, 0.3 + y = 1

or, y = 0.7

By putting the value of x and y in (ii) and (iv), we get

5(0.5) + 7(0.7) = 7.4

or, 2.5 + 4.9 = 7.4

or, 7.4 = 7.4

LHS = RHS

3(0.5) + 5(0.7) = 5

or, 1.5 + 3.5 = 5

or, 5 = 5

LHS = RHS
