let a/x=A and b/y=B

equation first

A-B=0

equation second

A(b) square+B(a) square=(a) square+(b) square

by multiple (b) square in first equation

A(b) square-B(b) square=0

A(b) square+B(a) square=(a) square +(b) square

-B(b) square-B(a) square=-(a)square-(b) square

B=1

b/y=1

y=b

then a/x-b/y=0

a/x=1

x=a
