Heya !!!
5/X - 1 + ( 1/Y-2) = 2 -------(1)
6/X-1 - (3/Y-2) = 1 -------(2)
Let 1/X-1 = U and 1/Y-2 = V and put these value in equation (1) and equation (2).
5U + V = 2 --------(3)
6U - 3V = 1 ----------(4)
From equation (3) we get,
5U = ( 2 - V )
U = ( 2 - V )/5 -------(5)
Putting the value of U in equation (4)
6U - 3V = 1
6 × ( 2 - V )/5 - 3V = 1
12 - 6V/5 - 3V = 1
12 - 6V - 15V = 5
-21V = 5-12
V = -7/-21 = 1/3
Putting the value of V in equation 5
U = 2-V/5 = 2 - 1/3 /5
U = 6-1/3
*****------
******5
U = 5/3/5 = 5/3 × 1/5 = 1/3
---------------------------
1/X-1 = U
1/X - 1 = 1/3
X - 1 = 3
X = 4
And,
1/Y-2 = V
1/Y-2 = 1/3
Y - 2 = 3
Y = 5
