Solve the following system of equations graphically.
x-2y = -3
2x + y = 4, Find the points where the lines intersect x axis.

Answer:

for line x -2y = -3 intersecting the X axis

let assume Intersecting point is ( x1,y1)

then ordinate of the intersecting point must be 0 i.e. y1=0

this point is lying on the line x-2y=-3

so it will satisfy the line equation

i.e.

x-0= -3

x=-3

this implies (x1,y1)= (-3,0)

for line 2x+y= 4 interacting the X Axis

let assume Intersecting point is (x2,y2)

then ordinate of the intersecting point must be 0 i.e. y2=0

this point is lying on the line 2x+y=4

so it will satisfy the line equation

i.e.

2x+0=4

x=2

this implies (x2,y2)= (2,0)
