Putting the value of x in eq 1
3×(-1+y) - 5y = - 1
-3 - 3y - 5y = - 1
-3 - 8y = - 1
-8y =-1 +3
-8y = 2
y = 2/-8
y = - 1/4


x - (-1/4) = - 1
x +1/4 = - 1
x = - 1 - 1/4
x = - 4 - 1/4
x = - 5/4
