let nos. be 11x and 9x

11x+9x =180

therefore 20x= 180

x=180÷20=9

therefore nos are

9x=9×9=81

11x=11×9=99

Ratio of the two numbers:

Let: x/y = 7/9

x = (7/9) y - eq. 1

Sum of the two numbers:

Let: x + y = 320 - eq. 2

Substitute 1 to 2:

(7/9)y + y = 320

y = 180

Substitute value of y to eq. 1

x = (7/9) * 180

x = 140

Therefore the two numbers are 140 and 180.

But wait there’s more!

Substitute the two numbers to any of the equations:

140 + 180 = 320

320 = 320

or

(140/180) = (7/9)

(7/9) = (7/9)

These will pretty give you simple proof that the solved numbers are correct.

Note: I enclosed the fractions in parenthesis since I am typing it on a mobile phone keyboard.

Hope this helps migo.
