x - 7y + 42 = 0

x - 7y = (-42)....(1)

x - 3y - 6 = 0

x - 3y = 6....(2)

subtract equation (2) from (1)

x - 7y = -42

-x + 3y = -6

-4y = -48

4y = 48

y = 48/4

y = 12

put the value of y in equation (2)

x - 3y = 6

x - 3(12) = 6

x - 36 = 6

x = 6 + 36

x = 42

Hence Solution (x,y) = (42,4)
