 {( \sqrt{2} )}^{x}  =  {2}^{8}  \\  {2}^{ \frac{x}{2} }  =  {2}^{8}  \\  now \: equating \: powers.... \\  \frac{x}{2}  = 8 \\ x = 16.....answer
