Linear pairs given :-

i.) 2x + y = 4

ii.) 2x - y = 4

Solution :-

Solving equation i.)

2x + y = 4

• When x = 0

=> 2 x 0 + y = 4

=> 0 + y = 4

=> y = 4

• When x = -1

=> 2 x -1 + y = 4

=> -2 + y = 4

=> y = 4 + 2

=> y = 6

• When x = -2

=> 2 x -2 + y = 4

=> -4 + y = 4

=> y = 4 + 4

=> y = 8

\begin{array}{| c | c | c | c |}\cline{1-4} \sf x & 0 & -1 & -2 \\ \cline{1-4} \sf y  & 4 & 6 & 8\\ \cline{1-4}\end{array}

Here, points are P(0,4), Q(-1,6) and R(-2,8).

Solving equation ii.)

2x - y = 4

• When x = 0

=> 2 x 0 - y = 4

=> 0 - y = 4

=> -y = 4

=> y = -4

• When x = 1

=> 2 x 1 - y = 4

=> 2 - y = 4

=> -y = 4 - 2

=> -y = 2

=> y = -2

• When x = 2

=> 2 x 2 - y = 4

=> 4 - y = 4

=> -y = 4 - 4

=> -y = 0

=> y = 0

\begin{array}{| c | c | c | c |}\cline{1-4} \sf x & 0 & 1 & 2 \\ \cline{1-4} \sf y  &-4 & -2 & 0\\ \cline{1-4}\end{array}

Here, points are A(0,-4), B(1,-2) and C(2,0).
