Answer :

x = 18

y = -10

Solution :

2x + 3y = 6 ----- equation 1

x + y = 8

Multiply the equation with 2 on both sides.

2x + 2y = 16 ----- equation 2

Subtract equation 2 from 1

2x + 3y = 6

2x + 2y = 16 (-)

__________

y = - 10

__________

→ x + y = 8

x - 10 = 8

x = 18

Therefore,

x = 18

y = - 10
