Step-by-step explanation:

Width = W cm

Length = 3W-4 cm

Perimeter (double the sum of length + width) = 2W + 6W-8 cm (88 cm)

8W- 8 - 88 = 0

8W-96 = 0

8W=96.

W= 96/8

W = 12 cm

L = 3W-4, = 3x12 - 4 L = 32

If L = 32, W = 12, perimeter (as a check) = 2(32+12), or 88.

Thanks for your question...

Your required answer :

Given :

  • The length of a rectangle is four less than three times its width.
  • Perimeter = 8 m

To find :

  • Length and Breadth

Equation formed :

  • Breadth = x
  • Length = 3x - 4

Solution :

  • 2 ( x + 3x - 4 ) = 8
  • 2 ( 4x - 4 ) = 8
  • 4x - 4 = 4
  • 4 ( x - 1 ) = 4
  • x - 1 = 1
  • x = 2

Now ,

  • Breadth = 2 metre

  • Length :
  • 2 ( l + 2 ) = 8
  • l + 2 = 4
  • l = 2 m
