Solve the given puzzle using equation-The weight of Ramesh is 10 kg less than three times the weight of Jayram. If the total weight of both is 70 kg, find the weight of each one of them.

Let the ages of jayaram and Ramesh

be x and y.

As per given data,

y = 3x -10......(1)

x + y = 70......(2)

using (1) in (2)

x + (3x-10) = 70

4x = 80

x = 20

y = 3(20) - 10 = 50


Jayaram's age is 20

Ramesh's age is 50

Hi ,

Let us assume weight of

Jayram = x kg

Weight of Ramesh = 3x - 10

According to the problem given ,

x + ( 3x - 10 ) = 70 kg

4x - 10 = 70

4x = 70 + 10

4x = 80

x = 80/4

x = 20

Therefore ,

Weight of the Jayram = x = 20 kg

Weight of Ramesh = 3x - 10

= 3( 20 ) - 10

= 60 - 10

= 50 kg
