Solution:-

Here, the given equations are -

2x - y = 1

3x + y = -6

Case - I

=> 2x - y = 1

=> -y = 1 - 2x

[Multiplying (-) to both sides]

=> -(-y) = -(1 - 2x)

=> y = -1 +2x     ....i.)

Case - II

=> 3x + y = -6

[Substituting the the value of y from eq. i.)]

=> 3x + (-1 + 2x) = -6

=> 3x -1 + 2x = -6

=> 3x + 2x = -6 + 1

=> 5x = -5

=> x = \frac{-5}{5}

=> x = -1

Substituting the value of x in eq. i.)

=> y = -1 +2x

=> y = -1 + 2 x -1     [x = -1]

=> y = -1 - 2

=> y = -3

Answer :-

The value of x = -1

The value of y = -3
