\sf{2 < 3x - 4 < 5}

Transposing 4

\implies\sf{2 + 4 < 3x < 5+ 4}

\implies\sf{6 < 3x < 9}

Dividing both sides by 3

\implies\sf{\dfrac{6}{3} < \dfrac{3x}{3} < \dfrac{9}{3}}

\implies\bf{2 < x < 3 \:\:or\:\: 3 > x > 2}
