Answer:

3 (y - 1) = 2 (y + 1)

3y - 3 = 2y + 2

3y - 2y = 2 + 3

1y = 5

y = 5

Verification:

LHS = 3 (y - 1)

= 3 (5 - 1)

= 3 × 4

= 12

RHS = 2 (y + 1)

= 2 (5 + 1)

= 2 × 6

= 12

LHS = RHS hence, verified.

Hope it helps

3 ( y -1) = 2 ( y + 1 )

L.H.S. R.H.S . 2 ( y+ 1 )

3 ( y-1 ) = 2y + 2

= 3y - 3

Now , I tell that , 3y - 2y = 2 -+ 3

y = 5 ( answer)
