Given :-

• A linear equation ___ 4x +4 = 16

To Find :-

• Value of x

Solution :-

We know, a linear equation in one variable can be written in the form

ax + b = 0

Given that,

4x +4 = 16

It can be written in the form of ax + b = 0 by subtracting 16 from both sides. However, we can solve this equation by performing algebraic operations.

4x +4 = 16

⟹ 4x = 12 ( Subtract 2 from both sides)

( Multiply both sides by 1/4 or, divide by 4)

⟹ x = 3

Hence, the solution is x = 3

Verification :-

4x +4 = 16

⟹ 4 × 3 + 4 = 16

⟹ 16 = 16

✰ What's a linear equation ?

⟹ It’s an equation of a straight line ( written in one variable)

a linear equation in one variable can be written in the form

ax + b = 0

( Where, a & b are real numbers, a ≠ 0)

✰ What we need to do for solving a linear equation ?

⟹ We may add, multiply, subtract or divide an equation by a number. But remember __ we can't divide by (0) zero. Sometimes , we need to apply the distributive property for solving a linear equation. Isolation of the variable on one side is also needed for solving a linear equation.
