Answer:

-5

Step-by-step explanation:

2x-y=3

2x=3-y

x=3-y/2......(1)

3x+y=7

3x=7-y

x=7-y/3....(2)

putting the value of (2) in (1), we get;

7-y/3=3-y/2

7-y=3(3-y/2)

7-y=9-3y/2

14-2y=9-3y

14-9=-3y+2y

5=-y

y=-5.

Step-by-step explanation:

Solution:

➠ 2x - y = 3 ...i

➠ 3x + y = 7 ...ii

Multiplying i by 3 and ii by 2,

We get,

➠ 6x - 3y = 9 ...iii

➠ 6x + 2y = 14 ...iv

On Subtracting,

➠ -5y = -5

➠ y =  \frac{ - 5}{ - 5}

➠ y = 1

Putting y = 1 in equation i

➠ 2x - 1 = 3

➠ 2x = 4

➠ x = 2

∴ x = 2 , y = 1
