Answer:

I) y = -43/3 x = 170/7

ii) x = 37/3 y = -5

Step-by-step explanation:

I) 7x + 9y = 41 -------- i) ×2.

2x + 3y = 13 -------- ii) ×7

14x + 18y = 82

14x + 21y = 39

- - -

14x - 14x = 0

or, 18y - 21y = 43

or, -3y = 43

or , y = -43/3

Putting value of y in i

7x + 9y = 41

or, 7x + 9×-43/3 = 41

or, 7x +(-129) = 41

or 7x -129 = 41

or, 7x = 170

or, X = 170/7

So X = 170/7 y = -43/3

II). 5x + 6y = 27 ------ i × 3

3x + 4y = 17 ------- ii × 5

or,

15x + 18y = 27

15x + 20y = 17

- - -

or, 18y -20y = 10

or, -2y = 10

y = -5

Putting value of y in ii

3x + 4y = 17

or, 3x + (4×-5) = 17

or, 3x - 20 = 17

or, 3x = 37

or, x = 37/3

so x = 37/3 y = -5
