x= -4.90

y= 26.18

The substitution method is a method used to solve the linear equation. In this method, any of the variables from the equation is substituted in another equation to find out the value of the variable.

The first equation is 3x+4y=90

The second equation is 5x+3y=54

take the first equation,

3x+4y=90

     3x=90-4y

       x= \frac{(90-4y)}{3}

substitute the x value in any equation,

5x+3y=54

(5) \frac{(90-4y)}{3}+3y=54

\frac{(450-20y)}{3} +3y= 54

= 54

450-20y+9y=54x3

450-20y+9y=162

      -20y+9y= 162-450

              -11y=-288

y=

y= 26.18

substitute the value of y in any equation,

3x+4(26.18)=90

 3x+104.72=90

3x=90-104.72

3x=-14.72

                x=\frac{-14.72}{3}

                x=-4.90
