ANSWER:

  • Value of x = 31 and y = 7.

GIVEN:

  • x-7y = (-4).
  • 5x-13y = 64

TO FIND:

  • Value of x and y.

SOLUTION:

=> x-7y = -4

Muntiplying both sides by 5 we get;

=> 5(x-7y) = 5(-4)

=> 5x-35y = -20. .....(i)

=> 5x-13y = 64 .....(ii)

Subtracting eq (i) from eq(ii).

=> 5x-13y-5x+35y = 64+20

=> 12y = 84

=> y = 84/12

=> y = 7.

Putting y = 7 in eq (ii)

=> 5x-13(7) = 64

=> 5x = 64+91

=> x = 155/5

=> x = 31.

Value of x = 31 and y = 7.
