x/2 + 2y/3 = -1 ==> x/2 + 2y/3 = -1

(x - y/3 =3) × 2 ==> 2x - 2y/3 = 6

5x/2 = 5

x=2×5/5

x = 2

Therefore y= -3

Elimination method..
Hope this helps!!

\textbf{Solution}

 \frac{x}{2} + \frac{2y}{3} = - 1 \\ \\ = > \frac{3x + 4y}{6} = - 1 \: (take \: lcm) \\ \\ = > 3x + 4y = - 6 - - - (1)

x - \frac{y}{3} = 3 \\ \\ = > \frac{3x - y}{3} = 3 \: (take \: lcm)\\ \\ = > 3x - y = 9 - - - (2)

From eq'n ( 2 )
3x - y = 9

=> 3x = 9 + y

=> x = ( 9 + y / 3 )-- ( 3 )

Substitute eq'n ( 3 ) in eq'n ( 1 )

3x + 4y = - 6

=> 3 ( 9 + y / 3 )+ 4 y = - 6

=> 27 + 3y / 3 + 4 y = - 6

=> 27 + 3y + 12y = - 18

=> 27 + 15y = - 18

=> 15y = - 18 + 27

=> 15y = 9

=> y = 9 / 15

=> y = 3 / 5

From eq'n ( 3 )
x = ( 9 + 3 / 5 / 3 )

=> x = 12 / 5 / 3

=> x = 1 × 12 / 5 × 3

=> x = 12 / 15

=> x = 4 / 5

\bold{Therefore  the  value  of  x and y  are}

\boxed{x = 4 / 5 , y = 3 / 5}
