First of all let's divide the given both equations with xy.
=> (5x + 3y)/xy = 5xy/xy
= 5y + 3x = 5......(I)
and
=> (2x + 4y)/xy = 3xy/xy
= 2y + 4x = 3......(II)

Now we have two equations in two variables.
Let's use elimination method for that.

Multiplying eqn.(I) with 2 and eqn (II) with 5.
=>10y + 6x = 10.....(iii)
=>10y + 20x = 15......(iv)

Eliminating (iii) from (iv)
14x = 5
x = 5/14

Substituting x in (iii)
=> 10y + 6(5/14) = 10
=> 10y = 10 - 30/14
=> 10y = (140 - 30)/14
=> 10y = 110/14
=> y = 11/14
