By using substitution method

x+5y =9

→ x = 5y - 9

→ -(5y-9) + 3y = 5

→ -2y = -4

→ 2y = 4

y = 2

By now we know this much :

x = 5y-9

y = 2

Substitute value of y, we get

x = 5(2)-9

x = 1

Hence, x=1 and y=2
