by using Elimination method:-

x + y =14
x - y = 4
_______
2x +0 = 18

2x= 18
x = 18/2
x = 9

by putting value of x in x+y = 14
9+y= 14
y =14-9
y = 5

to verify:-
x-y= 4
9-5= 4
4 = 4
L.H.S= R.H.S.

if x+y=14

and x-y=4

then consider x=4+y

putting this value in equation 1 we get

4+y+y=14

solving it we get y=5

putting y_value in any of the equation we get x=9

thus x=9 and y=5
