Answer:

x+y =5

2x+2y=10 --(i)

2x+3y=12 --(ii)

Subtracting (ii) from (i)

2x+3y-2x-2y=12-10

y = 2

Putting y = 2 in (i)

2x+4=10

2x=6 → x=3

Answer:

x+y=5 and 2x+3y=12

solved by elimination method.

let x+y=5 equation 1

and 2x+3y=12 equation 2.

multiply the equation 1 by 2

we get 2x+2y=10.

on eliminating the equation 1 and 2.

2x+2y=10

2x+3y=12

subtract 2x-2x=0 and 2y-3y=-y

10-12=-2.

-y=-2

remove -.

and we get y=2

put the value of y in equation 1.

x+y=5,

x+2=5,

x=5-2=3,

we get the value of x and y= 3 and 2.
