1) put x=4 in the equation

LHS:3*4-5

RHS:7

on solving LHS, we get 7

hence, LHS=RHS

do it the similar way for the other two..

As you promised, mark this the brainliest answer....

pratyasha9187: what does the * mean which you have put in 3
pratyasha9187: what is that
rikhilg: It's the multiplication symbol used in compluters
rikhilg: since the cross is not there, we use * to represent multiplication
pratyasha9187: OK
pratyasha9187: just wait I am making you as brainliest

Solution:

(i) 3x – 5 = 7

Substituting x = 4 in the given equation:

L.H.S. : 3 x 4 – 5

or, 12 – 5 = 7 = R.H.S.

Hence, x = 4 is the root of the given equation.

(ii) 5x – 8 = 2x – 2

Substituting x = 2 in the given equation:

L.H.S. :

5 x 2 – 8

or, 10 – 8 = 2

R.H.S. :

2 x 2 – 2

= 4 – 2 = 2

L.H.S. = R.H.S.

Hence, x = 2 is the root of the given equation.

similarly try no (iii)
