(8) The perimeter of a square is 176 m. Find the area of the field. Also, find the cost of laying grass on it at Rs. 5.50 per square meter.

Perimeter of Square = 176 m

Sides of a Square = 4

One Side = 176 ÷ 4

= 44 m

Hence, the one side of the square is 44 m.

Area of Square = s × s

= 44 × 44 sq.m

= 1936 sq.m

Rate for laying Grass = rate × area

= 5.50 × 1936

= Rs. 10648

Hence, the rate of laying Grass is Rs. 10,648.

(9) The area of Rectangular Mat is 5.6 sq.m If the length of the mat is 3.5 m, find its breadth.

Area of Rectangular Mat = 5.6 sq.m

Length of Mat = 3.5 m

 \sf Breadth =   \dfrac{area}{length}

 \sf Breadth =   \dfrac{5.6}{3.5}

 \sf  = 1.6 \: m

Hence, the Breadth of the Rectangular Mat is 1.6 m.

(10) How many cards can be made out of a sheet of paper measuring 324 cm by 144 cm, if each card requires a piece of paper of size 16 cm by 12 cm.

Measure of Paper = 324 cm and 144 cm

Measure of Card = 16 cm and 12 cm

Area of Rectangular Paper = l × b

= 324 × 144

= 46656 sq. cm

Area of Card = l × b

= 16 × 12 sq. cm

= 224 sq.cm

 \sf No \: of  \: Cards =  \dfrac{area \: of \: paper}{area \: of \: card}

 \sf  =  \dfrac{46656}{224}

= 208

Hence, 208 cards can be made.

(11) The distance covered by a boy in going five times around the square shaped park is 1025 sq.m. What is the area of park?

Perimeter of Park = 1025 m

No of Rounds = 5

One round = perimeter ÷ no of rounds

= 1025 ÷ 5

= 205 m

No of sides = 4

Side = 205 ÷ 4

= 51.25 m

Area of Square = a × a

= 51.25 × 51.25

= 2626.56 sq.m

Hence, the Area of Square is 2626.56 sq.m.

(12) A rectangle has length 50 cm and length 45 cm. A square has each side 48 cm. Which has more area and by how much ?

Area of Rectangle = l × b

= 50 × 45 sq.m

= 2250 sq.m

Area of Square = s × s

= 48 × 48 sq.m

= 2304 sq.m

Difference = Rectangle - Square

= 2304 - 2250

= 54 m

Hence, Square has more area by 54 m.
