Multiply equation 1. by 2
2(X+2y=2 )
2X +4y = 4
And 2nd equation is
2X+Y = 2
By subtraction..
we got 3y = 2
y = 2/3

We have,

X + 2Y = 2......(1)

2X + Y = 2

NOW,

By elimination method

(X + 2Y = 2)×2

2X + Y = 2

____________

2X + 4Y = 4.......... (3)

2X + Y = 2 ........... (4)

Subtract (4) from (3) we get,

3Y = 2

=> Y = 3/2

SO, From (1) equation,

X + 2 Y = 2

=> X + 2×2/3 = 2

=> X = 2 ×3/4 = 2/3

Hence,

X = 3/2

Y = 2/3
