Given:

(1st problem)

In an animal park, there were a total of 300 animals.

2/5 of the animals were zebras,

1/3 were monkeys and the rest were tigers.

(2nd Problem)

Ali scores 55 out of 70 marks in his Maths class assessments in January,

75 out of 90 in February and 83 out of 120 in March.

To find:

(1st problem)

Find the percentage of tigers.

(2nd Problem)

In which month did he perform the best?

Solution:

(1st problem)

Let x be the share of the number of tigers

From given, we have,

1 = 2/5 + 1/3 + x

1 - 2/5 - 1/3 = x

x = 4/15

As there are a total of 300 animals, we have,

4/15 × 300 = 80

There are a total of 80 tigers in an animal park.

The percentage of the tigers is given by,

80/300 × 100 = 26.67%

Therefore, the percentage of tigers is 26.67%.

(2nd Problem)

Ali scores

55 out of 70 marks in January

55/70 = 0.785

75 out of 90 marks in February

75/90 = 0.833

83 out of 120 marks in March

83/120 = 0.692

Since, we got, 0.833 > 0.785 > 0.692

Therefore, in February = 0.833, Ali performed the best.
