Answer:

2x² - 7x + 5 = 0

[ divide both sides by 2 to make coefficient of x² as 1 ]

x² - 7/2 x + 5/2 = 0

x² - 7/2 x = -5/2

x² -7/2 x + (7/4)² = -5/2 + (7/4)²

[ divide the coefficient of x by 2, square it and add to both sides of the equation ]

x² - 7/2x + 49/16 = -5/2 + 49/16

=> (x - 7/4)² = (-40 + 49)/16

=> (x - 7/4)² = 9/16

=> x - 7/4 = ± 3/4 [ take square root on both sides ]

=> x1 = +3/4 + 7/4 = 10/4 = 5/2

=> x2 = -3/4 + 7/4 = 4/4 = 1
