Consider the equation

       2x^2 + 5 x - 2 = 0

     x = - b + √b^2 - 4 ac / 2a

     x = - 5 + √25 - 4(2)(-2) / 2(2)

      x = - 5 + √41 / 4

       = 0.35078

Answer:

\text{The solution is }x=\frac{-5\pm \sqrt{41}}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the quadratic equation

2x^2+5x-2=0

We have to solve the above equation by formula method.

The quadratic formula for general form of equation ax^2+bx+c=0 is

x=\frac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

Equation: 2x^2+5x-2=0

a=2, b=5 and c=-2

The roots are

x=\frac{-5\pm \sqrt{5^2-4(2)(-2)}}{2(2)}=\frac{-5\pm \sqrt{41}}{4}

which are required roots of the given equation.
