Question :-

Solve the quadratic equation by using quadratic formula

  \sf{{y}^{2}  + 4y + 3 = 0} \\

Answer :-

→ y = -1 or -3 .

Solution :-

Given equation is ,

 \rightarrow \sf{  {y}^{2}  + 4y + 3 = 0} \\  \\ \rightarrow \sf{ {y}^{2}  + 3y + y + 3 = 0} \\  \\ \rightarrow \sf{y(y + 3) + 1(y + 3) = 0} \\  \\ \rightarrow \sf{ (y + 3)(y + 1) = 0} \\  \\  \star \:  \sf{case \: (1)} \\  \\  \implies \sf{ y + 3 = 0 }\\  \\  \implies \boxed{ \sf{y =  - 3}} \\  \\  \star \:  \sf{case \: (2)} \\  \\  \implies \sf{y \:  + 1 = 0} \:  \\  \\  \implies  \boxed{\sf{ y \:  =  - 1}}

Therefore ,

→ y = -1 or -3
