The value of x up to 2 decimal places = 6.52 or, - 1.52

Step-by-step explanation:

The given quadratic equation:

x^2-5x-10=0

To find, the value of x up to 2 decimal places = ?

Here, a = 1, b = - 5 and c = - 10

∴ Discriminant,

D=b^{2}-4ac

=(-5)^{2}-4(1)(-10)

= 25 + 40

= 65 > 0, the roots are real and unequal.

x=\dfrac{-b±\sqrt{D}}{2a}

x=\dfrac{-(-5)±\sqrt{65}}{2(1)}

x=\dfrac{5±8.06}{2}

x=\dfrac{5+8.06}{2} or, \dfrac{5-8.06}{2}

= 6.52 or, - 1.52

Hence, the value of x up to 2 decimal places = 6.52 or, - 1.52.
