Together We go far →→
Let the length of the rectangular park be x.
Then, the breadth of the rectangular park = x - 3
(i)
⇒ Area of the rectangular park = length * breadth
= x(x - 3) m.
(ii)
From the figure,
Base of an isosceles triangle = x - 3 m..
Height = 12 m.
⇒ We know that Area of an isosceles triangle = (1/2) * base * height
= (1/2) * (x - 3) * 12
= 6x - 18.
(iii)
Given that area of rectangular park is 4 m^2 more than area of triangular park.
⇒ x(x - 3) = 6x - 18 + 4
⇒ x^2 - 3x = 6x - 14
⇒ x^2 - 9x + 14 = 0
⇒ x^2 - 2x - 7x + 14 = 0
⇒ x(x - 2) - 7(x - 2) = 0
⇒ (x - 2)(x - 7) = 0
⇒ x =2,7
When x = 2:
Breadth = (x - 3)
= (2 - 3)
= -1.{It cannot be negative}
When x = 7:
Breadth = x(x - 3)
= (7 - 3)
= 4.
Therefore,
⇒ Length of the rectangular park = 7 m.
⇒ Breadth of the rectangular park = 4 m.
Hope it helps!
