let the ages of all the student be x1,x2,x3.........x10

and that of teacher be Y

so mean age of students :-

x1+x2+x3.....+x10/10=15 (given)

so x1+x2+......x10=150 ------(1)

and if age of teacher is included then

x1+x2+......x10+Y/11 = 17

so x1+x2+.....x10+Y = 187

150+Y = 187 ( from (1) )

Y = 37

so the age of teacher is 37
