using trial and error we can find x and y

x + y = 3, xy = 2, so,

x,y is = 2,1

i) if x is 2 and y is 1

a) x - y = 2 - 1

∴ x - y = 1

ii) x² - y²

a) x² - y² = 2² - 1²

              = 4 - 1

           ∴ = 3
