Let the present age of son be X
And
the present age of father be Y

Five years ago,
the age of son =(X - 5)

the age of father = ( Y - 5)

According to question,
Case 1

X + Y = 45. ....(1)

Case 2
(X - 5)(Y - 5) = 4(Y - 5)

=》 (X - 5) = 4

=》 X = 4 + 5 = 9

On putting the value of X in equation (1), we get ,

X + Y = 45

9 + Y = 45

Y = 45 - 9 = 36

Answer.
The present age of son = 9yrs

The present age of father = 36 yrs

let the present age of son be x
and the present age of father be y
atq ...
x+y=45 eq 1...
y=45-x
five years ago ...father's age was y-5
and son's age was x-5
atq ....
(y-5)(x-5)=4(y-5)...
solution ...
xy-5y-5x+25=4y-20
xy-5y-5x-4y=-20-25
xy -5y-5x-4y=-45
substituting eq1 in this
x(45-x)-5(45-x)-5x-4(45-x)=-45
45x-x^2-225+5x-5x-185+4x=45
49x-x^2-415=-45
pls do rest calculations and substitute the value of x in eq1 ....hope it helps
