5x + 2y = -3 -----1equation

x + 5y = 4 ------2equation

5x + 2y = -3 multiply by 1

x +5y = 4 multiply by 5

5x + 2y = -3

5x + 25y = 20

- - - [subtracting both equations]

- 23y =-23

_____________________

23y =23

y = 23/23

y =1

putting the value of y in 1 equation

5x + 2y = -3

5x + 2 = -3

5x = -3 -2

5x = -5

x =-5/5

x =-1

Answer:

To get the value of variable , there are three methods :

1) Substitution method

2) elimination method

3) cross multiplication method

u can use any of them to find the values

but I had used elimination method ...which is quite simple ...according to me..

Step-by-step explanation:

1) make the cofficent of any varible same in both equations

2) solve them .. by substraction.

3) put the value of variable u just get after substracting the two equations , in any of the equation

4) on solving u will get the value of another variable
