Answer:

x + y = 0

9x + 12 y = -42

-8x - 12 y = 56

_____________

x = 14

So, y is :-

9 × 14 + 12y = -42

=> 12 y = -42 - 126

=> y = -(168÷12)

=> y = -14

Hence,

x = 14, y = -14

hope this answer helps you.
