Solve the simultaneous equation by substitution method :
x + y = 14 and x -y = 2

x + y = 14 equation (i)

&

x - y = 2 equation (ii)

or, x = 2 + y equation (iii)

substitute the value of x = 2 + y in equation(i) we can write,

x + y = 14

or, 2 + y + y = 14

or, 2 + 2y = 14

or, 2y = 14 - 2

or, 2y = 12

or, y = 12/2

or, y = 6

put the value of y = 6 in equation(iii) we can write,

x = 2 + y

or, x = 2 + 6

or, x = 8

Answer :- x = 8 and y = 6
