Answer :-

2x + 3y = 8 -----(1)  \times2  \\ 5x + 2y = 9 -  -  -  -  - (2) \times 3 \\ (1) - (2) \\  - 11x =  - 11 \\  \implies \: x = 1 \\  \implies \: y = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Subtract EQn1 from EQn2

5x +2y =9

- 2x +3y =8

(-) (-) (-)

===================

3x -y =1

===================

So,y =3x-1

put value of y in EQn 1

2x+3(3x-1)=8

2x+9x-9=8

11x=17

x =17/11

So,y=3*17/11-1

y= 51/11-11/11

y= 40/11
