Step-by-step explanation:

2x - y = 1 )-------(1)

2x + 2y = 10 )---------(2)

from equation (2)

  • 2x +2y = 10
  • 2(x+y) = 10
  • x+ y = 5
  • x = 5-y )--------(3)

putting equation (3) in (1)

  • 2x - y = 1
  • 2(5 - y) - y = 1
  • 10 - 2y -y = 1
  • 10 -3y = 1
  • -3y = 1-9
  • -3y = -8
  • y =  \frac{8}{3}

putting value of y in question (3)

  • x = 5 -  \frac{8}{3}
  • x =  \frac{15 - 8}{3}
  • x =   \frac{7}{3}
