we can solve this equation by elimination ...

4x+3y= -10 ............(i)

4x-y = -14 ...............(ii)

on subtracting (i) and (ii) we have ..

4y = 4

y = 1

and x = -10 - 3(1) /4

= -13/4

4x + 3y = -10

4x + y = -14

We get,

2y = 4

y = 2

4x + y = -14

4x = -16

x = -4
