Step-by-step explanation:

Solution:

x/3+y/4=7

4x+3y =84

5x/6-y/8=5

20x-3y = 120

Suppose,

4x+3y=84→(1)

and 20x-3y=120→(2)

Taking equation (1), we have

4x+3y=84

⇒4x=-3y+84

⇒x= (-3y+84)/4 →(3)

Putting x= (-3y+84)/4 in equation (2), we get

 20x-3y=120

20((-3y+84)/4)-3y=120

⇒-15y+420-3y=120

⇒-18y+420=120

⇒-18y = 120-420

⇒-18y= -300

⇒ y = 50/3→(4)

Now, Putting y=50/3 in equation (3), we get

x = (-3y+84)/4

x= (-3(50/3)+84)/4

⇒x= (-50+84)/4

⇒x= 34/4

x = 17/2

Well we get

x = 17/2 , y = 50/3
