x + y = 8 ----- (1)

2x − y = 7 ----- (2)

___________________

3x = 9

x = 9/3 = 3

Put the value of x in equation (1),

we get,

x + y = 8

3 + y = 8

y = 8 − 3

y = 5

Therefore the solution is (3,5)
