To factorise :

4x² - 2x - 6

=) 4x² - 6x + 4x - 6 = 0

=) 4x² + 4x - 6x - 6 = 0

=) 4x(x+1) - 6(x+1) = 0

=) (4x - 6) (x+1) = 0

So (4x-6) = 0 & (x+1) = 0

=) 4x = 6 & x = - 1.

=) x = 6/4 = 3/2 & x = - 1.
