2x + 3y = 40
-2x + 2y = 20 +
------------------------
5y = 60
y = 60 : 5
y = 12

2x + 3y = 40
2x + 3 × 12 = 40
2x + 36 = 40
2x = 40 - 36
2x = 4
x = 4 : 2
x = 2

The solution is {2, 12}
